Hi,

I have the RECORD file on the server as well as the PLAYBACK file. Is there a way I can incorporate into the URL to run a 2nd playback file when the first one completes? I'd like to call multiple playback files if possible from the url.

This is my URL:
http://ifms01.nycha.nyc.gov:8094/dev60cgi/f60cgi?record=record_template.fld%20play=playback_file1.fld&config=playback

For ex: I'd like to call playback_file2 and playback_file3 once playback_file1 completes. Is it possible?

Jonathan from DL states this: With the correct setup you can run multiple loads in parallel so if you need to load, say, hundreds of thousands of records then you could run multiple 10k records loads in parallel or at least start your next load before the preceding load is complete. Anyone out there know how to set it up for multiple/paralell loads?

Thanks,
Joe

Joe,

What you need to do is create multiple playback files (say playback_file1, playback_file2, playback_file3, etc) each with their own record file (say record_file1, record_file2, record_file3, etc) then have multiple URL's:

http://ifms01.nycha.nyc.gov:8094/dev60cgi/f60cgi?record=record_file1.fld%20play=playback_file1.fld&config=playback

http://ifms01.nycha.nyc.gov:8094/dev60cgi/f60cgi?record=record_file2.fld%20play=playback_file2.fld&config=playback

http://ifms01.nycha.nyc.gov:8094/dev60cgi/f60cgi?record=record_file3.fld%20play=playback_file3.fld&config=playback

Then click on the first one, wait until it is under way, then click on the second one, wait until it is under way, then click on the third one, wait until it is underway, then .....

Note that each URL must have its own unique record file and playback file, or the second process will just wait for the first one to finish, and the third one will have to wait for the second one to finish and .....

There is a profile option which controls how may times you are allowed to be logged on at the same time, and you will have to make sure that this is set to at least the number of playbacks you want to do at the same time.

Any further questions, please get back to me.

David

David,

Are you saying that if I purchased just one license that I can still run multiple loads/URL's from the same desktop?

If so, then thanks for letting me know. I will test that out as well.

Joe,

David is absolutely right and this is how you would run multiple loads in parallel. Furthermore, this doesn't cause any DataLoad licensing issues. You use DataLoad to create the playback scripts and as long as your company doesn't have more installs of DataLoad than licenses (or concurrent users if that is your licensing option) then you don't have any issues. Having created multiple loads you can run them in parallel using the approach suggested by David.

Regards,

Jonathan Stuart
