hi,

we have bought dataload maybe a year ago. We used it happliy and it does give us a lot of helps. Recently, we have problem using datalod. It can only playback 10 records. I suppose it is because the license has been expired. But I assume license expires only upgrade support, not using it normally.

Can you answer me why i can only playback 10 records?

Jeff

I too have a similair problem, the plapyback.fkd works fine in test, but only loads 5 records in production. I'm also waiting for a response, including one from support no luck yet.

Are you using the same PC now as you did last year? Has it undergone a rebuild?

The reason for asking is that the free Classic version of DataLoad will allow you to load only 5 records, so that you can see how it works. If you like it, you buy a licence and install the regkey.dat and supply your serial number. If you did this last year, then you would have been able to load an unlimited number of records. If you are using a different machine now, or it has undergone a rebuild, you will be limited to 5 records. If you ran it again, because it didn't work first time, then you might end up with 10 records.

It is my understanding that when your one year licence expires, you can continue to use DataLoad Professional, but you won't be able to upgrade to the latest version without buying another licence. Anyway, if the licence has expired, it warns you every time you start DataLoad. Are you seeing the warnings?

Cool HTH

DataLoad Classic won't allow you to save forms playback loads with more than 5 records but the load size in DataLoad Pro is unlimited, even if your support has expired. If you can save a file with more than 5 records then you have DataLoad Pro.

There are a number of reasons why a load might fail after 5 or 10 or any other number of records but this won't be caused by the version/type of DataLoad you use. That is, Classic stops you saving loads with more than 5 records rather than preventing loads with more than 5 records from working in Oracle.

The most common reasons for playback failing after a certain number of records are as follows:

1. Oracle form bug.
2. Forms Playback load incorrectly recorded.
3. Data issue.
4. DataLoad bug (i.e. DataLoad saved an incorrect FLD file).

The first of those is by far the most common cause of these issues, probably accounting for 90%-95% of them. You need to remember that forms in E-Business Suite contain bugs - that's life - and DataLoad is a very good way to find those bugs. Some bugs mean you can't do something in a form once, but other times a bug will only manifest itself after a certain number of records has been loaded. If a load consistently fails after a certain number of records, and that numer is too low to be bearable, then you should find out if the error occurs when data is loaded normally in the form. A good way to run this test is to load data through a DataLoad macro load because this is indistinguishable from data being loaded by a user. If the issue is reproduceable then you need to get your DBA and/or Oracle Support to provide a fix.

If you think the issue isn't an Oracle issue but a problem in DataLoad then please email your forms playback files to DataLoad support (support@dataload.net). We will need to see the file where playback fails and also a copy of the original file recorded by Oracle which has not been edited in DataLoad.

Regards,

Jonathan

Surprised Well, you learn something every day. I was not aware that DataLoad Classic would only save a .fld with a maximum of 5 records. I knew that the limit was 5, but I had not thought about how it achieved that limit.

Embarassed So, Jeff, I apologise if I sent you off in the wrong direction.
