We installed Dataload on a Vista PC. To do this we needed Admin rights.
But it seems you need Admin rights to log on to Dataload as well.
So all our users need to be in the Admin group? Isn't there another way, because our users don't have admin rights. |

Hi,
You shouldn't need admin rights to run DataLoad in Vista. What happens if you run DataLoad in Vista without admin rights?
Thanks and regards,

I get following dataload error: " Failed to set data for '' "
If i log in with admin rights, I don't get this error. |

Thanks. After you acknowledge this error does DataLoad work correctly or does it not start or are more errors shown, etc?

Thanks. We are looking at this now and believe it may be a Registry permissions issue. DataLoad should handle that gracefully and we will try to get a fix for this as soon as possible.

Kristel,
Can you tell me anything about the restrictions on your users' accounts? I have started DataLoad using a non-administrator user on Vista and can't yet reproduce this issue. If we can get it reproduced here then we will be able to find a fix more quickly.
Thanks,
Jonathan |

What exactly do you need to know?
I was trying it on GD4.1

Kristel,
Just wondering if you knew whether you had locked down your PCs further that for the standard basic Vista user, esp with regards to registry access? Don't worry if you don't know. We are working on a patched DataLoad that won't fix this but will hopefully identify what the problem is.
Thanks,
Jonathan |

As far as I know we do not have a lot of access rights to the Registry. |

We have a new version of DataLoad that includes additional logging. This won't fix the issue but it should tell us what the problem is. Please download and run the following file:
http://www.dataload.com/dlupdate.exe
That will update your main DataLoad file but it will take a backup first.
Please run DataLoad and the error should still occur. A file called dataload.log will be created in the directory where DataLoad is installed (typically this is c:\program files\dataload). Please email that file to support@dataload.com.
Thanks,
Jonathan |

It returns 'UNABLE to LOAD RECORD.DLL'
but afterwards (when I clicked OK) I can login to Dataload.
I will send you the log file.
Kind Regards, Kristel |
