Hi,
I just startied to work the the DBA's on getting the PRO trial version configured and setup in the forms server. We haven't gone through all the docs yet, but we will, slowly.
Just a couple of quick questions. How does a .fld file created? I know the MACRO version created a .dld file, but as of right now, I am not sure how the .fld gets produced. Is it similar, but with a different extension?
Can someone explain briefly who the PRO version works?
Thanks,
Joe |

Joe,
The .fld file is created for you by Oracle when you put Oracle into recording mode. You can put Oracle into recording mode in various ways but the easiest for new users is to create a dedicated recording E-Business user and setup their ICX: Forms Launcher profile option value to enable recording.
The high level steps for using form playback are:
1. Perform the Forms Playback setup. (One-off activity)
2. Record a load, following the instructions & "rules" in the User Guide.
3. Copy the load file you have just recoded from the server to your PC. It is always a good idea to take a copy of the file at this stage so you have a copy of your original recording.
4. Open the file in DataLoad. Make sure you make the correct selections in the Header Value Selection form.
5. DataLoad will display the data you recorded in Step 2. Replace and add to that data.
6. Save your changes and copy the file back to the server. Ensure the file is named and located as detailed in your setup (Step 1).
7. Start the playback. Login to Oracle as your playback user and select the Responsibility (11.5.8 and below) or Form (11.5.9+) to open and the playback will start.
This is quite a different approach to what you will be used to with the Macro loads. The best way to learn how to use forms playback loads is to follow the steps above to create a very simple load. Don't try anything complex at this stage and instead focus on making the end to end process work. Most people find that once you have gone through the end to end process a couple of times things begin to make sense.

Jonathan,
Thanks for your reply, your instructions from your email helped us out a lot. We finally got 1 simple load to work yesterday afternoon.
Today we will play around with it with some more data loads.
Thank you,
Joe |
