We are currently using DataLoader Pro for scripting of repetitive Oracle data entry tasks. We would like to run these scripts though our change management process in as near as possible to a "hands off" promotion.

We use Mercury ITG's Oracle Accelerator to migrate all FND / AOL objects.

We use custom objects to move reports, workflows, sql scripts, UNIX scripts, etc.

Our Oracle environment (11.5.8 ) app tier runs on Linux, and the DB (9i) runs on HP-UX.

Desired Scenario:

1) Developer / User develops the dataloader script in a development environment.
2) We use Mercury to migrate the script, and execute it in our integration test environment.
3) Ditto for preprod, where the end-user will sign off
4) Migrate to production and execute load.

We would like to do this in as near as possible to "hands off". If it's possible to script from a command line in either UNIX or windows (or both), we can do it.
Can you help?

Do you have examples of command line execution?

Thanks, Tom

Tom,

There is a section of the DataLoad User's Guide called "Configuring the URL to Directly Launch Oracle Applications 11i" which can be found at http://www.dataload.net/help/recplay/url.htm This explains how to build a URL to launch the Oracle Applications and start a record / playback.

Be sure to read the first paragraph, especially "Only follow the setup instructions outlined below if you know what you are doing and have decided the Profile Option approach described on the Setup page is not appropriate for you."

I should imagine that it should be possible to have a script fire up a browser and pass it the URL, but I haven't tried it myself. I have an Excel spreadsheet with a cell containing a HYPERLINK function. When I click on that cell, it invokes IE and passes it the URL which starts a DataLoad Professional record and/or playback for me.

Cool HTH

David.
