Hi,

Does anyone know how to use marco load with 'Feedback File'?

I'm new to Dataload (testing with Professional Version) for Oracle Applications and want to know does 'Feedback File' work as log file and error control?
According to the user guide, the location of 'Feedback File' seems need to be accessed by local PC and turn on Oracle 'Record' mode.
Then I should place the 'Feedback File' at the record.fld folder or not? And what's the relationshio between the record file and Feedback file?

Ali,

First, I recommend you use Forms Playback rather than Load Control. Forms Playback is the main technology in Forms Playback and is faster and more reliable than Load Control. Load Control is good, but it is there to make the Macro loads more reliable and faster but a better approach is not to use Macro loads at all in Oracle Forms because there is a limit to how quick these can be. Because of this and the introduction of new functionality, it is likely that Load Control will be removed from the next version of DataLoad.

If you do wish to use Load Control the you need to tell DataLoad the location of the feedback file. This file is the same as the record file and DataLoad reads this during the load. DataLoad reads this file to determine the current state of Oracle Forms, and particularly to know if the last data or command sent by DataLoad has been processed. Thus this file needs to be readable from your PC although it will probably be located on a sever because it is Oracle Forms on the application server which is writing to this file.
