Error "Failed to start hook to monitor ESC Key"

I'm using Dataload Classic V 5.2 and am getting this error message when the dataload starts. I'm then unable to use the esc key to stop the dataload. Is there a resolution to this issue?

Hi,

Does a file called "record.dll" exist in the directory where DataLoad is installed?

Thanks,

Jonathan Stuart

Yes - I do have a "record.dll" in my dataload directory. Do I need to modify or delete it?

Hi,

We have updated the next release of DataLoad (still in development but stable) so it contains changes to help with the issue you reported. Those changes are:

1. The error message now contains more detailed error information
2. The error message is displayed before the Oracle window is activated
3. Esc will still stop the load even after this error has occurred although this may not be as responsive as normal

The third point should mean this failure is less of an issue for you, however we still want to fix this problem. Therefore, please download and install this version and let us know the full details of the error message that is shown. It should now contain an error code and description.

The download link is:

http://www.dataload.com/dlsetupv5210.exe

Thanks,

Jonathan

Thanks Johnathon - I have downloaded the dataload version from your post. I did get the error message as you said. The error code I get is as follows:

Failed to start hook to monitor Esc key.
Error code: 3221225506.

After I clicked "OK" dataload functioned normally - I was able to hit the Esc key and stop the dataload. I have several users at my company who use Dataload Classic. If your able to get this fixed then I'll feel comfortable telling them to upgrade.

Thanks,
Brenda

Brenda,

Unfortunately that doesn't look like a valid Windows error code so we think DataLoad is not reporting the problem correctly. We have made another update so could you please download this new version and test that. Download link is as before, i.e.

http://www.dataload.com/dlsetupv5210.exe

Please download, install and test that and let me know what error message is shown this time.

Thanks,

Jonathan

I downloaded dataload from your last link and, unfortunately, I got the same exact error message. I'll be off the rest of this afternoon and won't be able to check in until tomorrow morning. Thanks for your help and attention to this.

Thanks,
Brenda

Brenda,

Thank you for that. We will look at this further and see if we can make sense of this error message!

Thanks,

Jonathan
